Ruby's Story
Age 15
I went to see a counsellor just before I started my GCSE’s. I was well stressed out and feeling so much pressure to get them all right. My teacher noticed I was struggling with all the stress because I was crying at school. She said it might help if I talked to someone about it.
I met my counsellor and was really nervous but he was very kind and helped me feel comfortable to talk. I went once a week to see him and I liked to go because he had loads of ideas on how to manage stress. We used stress balls and drew a stress thermometer to measure how I felt each week I learned that being stressed about my exams was ok and normal and how I could manage my stress so I would feel better which really helped.
I have now finished all my exams and using all the ways I learned and how stress affected me, I passed them all.
